Phelps Swinging Bridge
This photo shows the new highway and a new swinging bridge that replaced the old one. There were no large bridges across the creek until the 1930s, and people with automobiles "forded" the creek in low areas. Two wooden bridges that spanned each fork of the creek in front of the James L. Dotson store were later replaced by a large concrete bridge immediately below the forks which is used today.
